searxng asks a bunch of real search engines for you, mixes the
answers, and shows clean results. no ads, no tracking, no
"people also ask". it doesn't profile you and every search starts
from zero.

just search
! a word of warning first: right now the search gets rate-limited
fairly easily — if you search a lot in a short time, results can
come back empty or half-baked. we're working on fixing this.
until then: use it happily, but don't rush to make it your
browser's default — keep it as the place you go when you want
clean results.

firefox: visit search.solarcat.eu once, then
settings → search → pick search.solarcat.eu
from the list.

chrome: settings → search engine → manage
search engines and site search → add (under
"site search"), with the url
https://search.solarcat.eu/search?q=%s.
then make it the default.

after that, typing in the address bar searches here too.
tune it

click preferences on the search page to pick which
engines it asks, the language, and more.

preferences are saved in a browser cookie — so they stick to
the browser you set them in, and a different one starts
fresh.
